A fan project to bring Twig to a wider audience

Welcome

Can’t wait? Start here.

Welcome to the Twig audiobook. This site is a personal effort to emulate the work done by the fantastic folks at the Worm Audiobook Project for the latest project by J.C. McCrae, better known as wildbow: Twig.

For an introduction to Twig itself, please see this page on the author’s own site. With regard to content warnings, here is an important excerpt from that page:

Those on the lookout for trigger warnings should probably be warned, the author’s style leans toward the dark and violent.  To clarify to those not familiar with the term: if a key word or storyline touching on a particular topic could ruin your day or induce panic attacks, you might want to steer clear of Twig, as it is likely to touch on many.  Sex, however, will happen offscreen if it happens at all, and sex-related triggers are generally avoided, both due to authorial preference.  Swearing and violence are likely to be present, if not outright common, so be warned.  Use your own judgment to estimate your tolerances and decide if Twig is the sort of thing you’re comfortable reading.

Is there anything we could do to help you continue this project? I’d happily sub to a patreon or something

  2. John

I need you back in my life.
I tried to act disinterested- check in occasionally for a new update without seeming desperate.

    I’m desperate now.

Please come back to us, Kim. Give us the fix we need

Hey i just wanna say this is an incredible project, I’m sad that I’ve reached the end for now, your narration is wonderful and it’s such a good way to experience this story as someone reading it for the first time.

  4. Urban

Has the project been revived!? I saw new episodes out and restarted from the beginning again to fully appreciate it. Twig is probably my favorite of Wildbow’s works and I still get chills on some of the audiobook chapters. This may be my favorite audiobook series, fan made or otherwise. If there’s a way to help support it I’d love to!

Hey! First off – really loving the show! As a fellow podcast host & audiobook enthusiast, I really appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into creating high-quality audio content for your listeners!

My name is Brady – I’m the host of Another World Audiobooks, a podcast where I narrate high quality, fully produced audiobooks for listeners to enjoy.
I’ve been doing the show for over 5 years now. Over 300 episodes. Thousands of listeners around the world. And nothing but 5 star ratings & reviews from my listeners:)

You can check it out here – https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/another-world-audiobooks-podcast/id1320697984?ign-mpt=uo%3D4&mt=2

Wanted to get in touch with you to chat about the possibility of collaborating to expand our audiences…

First idea would be doing an episode swap where I can introduce all of my listeners to your podcast & vise versa!

Is that something you might be interested in exploring? I’m totally open to any ideas or suggestions you might have for other ways to collaborate!

Thank you for your time and consideration – I look forward to hearing from you soon!

    Sincerely,
    Brady Smith

Don’t let this be your Canterbury tales! You wouldn’t want to let all the fans down would you? Your work is really good but it’s been 6 years and you’re not even halfway done… Tisk tisk. Now I am forced to read. The last time I read a book was about a decade ago. This might just kill me

    • Storm

      Hey, don’t be rude.

    • Pondering Fleetfeathers

Screw that. It seems to me like you’re complaining about a 100% free, excellently produced piece of media that Kim put a lot of time, love, and attention into.
And you’re shaming her for being slow because you can’t be bothered to read a book? Do you really think that kind of comment is going to be conducive to motivating Kim to continue doing the incredible work she’s done?

  7. Jacob

I am ravenous foe another chapter of this audiobook. Any info about a time table of when this will be picked up again would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the excellent work.

  8. John

    Incredible audio book.
    You’re a God damn professional I swear

  9. Vyrmine

Will there be new updates? Any help needed? `

  10. Jamez

Hi, any updates on when new chapters will be posted?

  11. DK

I’ve only just started the audiobook for Twig as my first time ever indulging in a WildBow work. I -LOVE- it SO much! Thanks for your hard work!

  12. Matthew Harding

I’m so happy to see more episodes in my podcast feed! Keep up the great work!

  13. Columbus Niwa

    Thanks for sharing!!

  14. Walker Mence

Hi, just wanted to drop a line letting you know that I’m a big fan of your audio reading of Twig. Every day I check in anticipation of the next chapter. Looking forward to the next release!

  15. Jonathan

    **Thanks**
Firstly I would like to say a big thanks. I have been listening to your entire back catalogue over the last few weeks and It has been such a fun journey. I wouldn’t have read the web-serial without the podcast so thanks for all the time and love you put into this. Also your narration skills are top notch. Your articulation, pacing and character voices all make it really engrossing to listen to.

    **Document with duplicate lines**
I noticed a few times there were lines you accidentally read twice.
I made a Notion document that has the exact location of the duplicates if you would like to fix them.

Aaaaahhh!! I saw you just dropped a new episode! Awesome!! I’m so excited to listen to it!!

    • kadauber

I’m excited to have sent it out!!! Finally, after a year or so…

      • Matt

Hey, I just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you’re doing, and I’m very happy to see more podcast episodes in the feed. Thank you!

  17. Svankensen

Love your work. I usually don’t listen to audiobooks until I’ve read the work, but yours is too good to pass. I just reached the end of arc 6. It was heart wrenching and your acting made it better. I will keep on reading now, but will certainly listen again whenever you finish the next one. Thanks for introducing me to twig.

  18. Kangarang

Just here to say that your audiobook is fantastic! The quality is really good.

I look forward to any new chapters!

  19. Abyssonym

I’ve listened to the whole thing up through arc 5 and I want to tell you that this really great work. I love your Lillian even though it’s nothing like I imagined her. I’ve subscribed to the RSS feed and eagerly await arc 6!

  20. Ruby Tuesday

Seemed like a cool listen…. then I was hooked. No transition haha. One big highlight: Kim you’re transition between each character’s voice is always smooth and doesn’t exaggerate. Well done.

  21. Hopefullylesspretentious

Are you looking for any additional readers? I’d be interested in contributing, if you need people. Whether to read an enemy chapter, or a larger commitment to read some of the regular narrative.

  22. Mechrono

I decided to wait for chapter 4 to finish before i started listening cat wait to start. Hope chapter 5 will be out by the time i’m finished

  23. ThatMeGuy

Hi there! I’m writing this not out of impatience. I’m boping you can tell me if tbis project is ongoing? I’d love to know that there will be more of the story before I start it.

    • kadauber

There will be more of the story! I just don’t operate on a wildbow schedule. Here’s an update: After dealing with some audio quality shenanigans (I think), I’ve finally managed to re-record the final two chapters in arc 5. Now once I’ve finished editing I’ll be able to publish again.

Thanks for all the interest, everyone!

  24. James

    Heya, Kadauber!

Like the others, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve enjoyed your reading of Twig immensely, and appreciate all of the time and effort you’ve put into recording, editing, and publishing the first four arcs. I’m patiently looking forward to the fifth arc! But also, I hope you’ve been successful in balancing school, life, and recording. (Because school > recording, of course.)

  25. Flynn

So glad to find that someone is working on this!

I sampled a few chapters and sounds great. Excited to dig in.

  26. nebarugisu

I love it! The sound quality is great. It has just the right amount of voice acting and impersonation. Your voice is awesome.
Ahh I want to read the rest of Twig, but I just love this too much, so I’ll have to be patient.
Thank you very much, can’t wait for more!

  27. Adam

The Worm Audiobook was amazing and now I’m really digging twig just about to start the third arc . Hopefully you are able to move past the 4th arc. Might have to relisten to worm again while I wait. keep up the fantastic reading! Thank you very much

    • kadauber

Thanks, Adam! My new plan, rather than try keep a regular schedule, is to release one arc at a time. That is, when I finish recording and editing an arc, I’ll release chapters twice a week until the entire arc is out. This way you all can be confident that you’ll get a whole “season” at a time, but I won’t get the unsustainable time pressure of keeping up a rigorous schedule while still being a student.

That said, the fifth arc is now nearly complete. Unless something goes wrong, it should start coming out within the next two weeks. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!

  28. IgneusJotunn

I can’t see a “how to contribute” section so I’ll ask here- are you looking for collaborators? I read a bit for the Worm audio book, and the only way I’ll get my brother to read Twig is by having an audio book of that finished so I’m offering help if you’re looking for it 🙂

    • kadauber

Hi! I can’t handle the overhead it would take to involve remote collaborators at the moment. I’m thinking about it, but it’s such unexplored territory for me that I won’t be able to get it together for another couple of months at least. You’ll notice that it’s been three arcs and we’ve only had two readers, the other one being my boyfriend.

I certainly want to have more readers eventually, though. Absolutely for all the Enemy chapters. If I find someone whose voice I like a lot we might do something particularly neat in Arc 14 as well (coming to a head in 14.8, if you want to look). But in the meantime, it’s easiest if all I have to organize is myself and a very few other people in person.

      • IgneusJotunn

That’s fair- what Rein did with the Worm audio was a lot of administration. If Enemy chapters are going to be read by other people anyway, I could record one a good ways in the future and send it to you. If you like it, cool, if not no harm done.

Otherwise, good luck and thanks for reading! Let me know when you are getting that together, I’ll keep checking back.

      • Rebuta

I’m also very interested in collaborating if that’s something you end up doing further into the story. Over Christmas I’ll put in the time to read the story through then, if you like, send you a sample of one chapter to see if you think my voice suits what you’re looking for.

        • kadauber

Hi there! Unfortunately, I’m not looking for other readers – I prefer to have significant input on the way people read chapters and the audio quality, and it’s not feasible to get that without someone being in my home using my recording equipment.

However, I am interested in featuring original instrumental music in the intro and conclusion of each arc. If you are interested in helping in this way, please leave a comment. I’ll be in touch.

          Thank you for your offers!

  29. Funky

I’ll just leave a comment to tell you that I really appreciate what you are doing here. I haven’t had time for reading, so your work with this audiobook really helped me advance through Twig.

    Keep at it. Good luck.

  30. Tyler Henderson

Are you ok? I am a huge fan of twig and this project, and I don;t want to put any pressure to publish more quickly then you are able to or anything, I am only concerned because it has been more then 12 days since the podcast has been published and I am a little bit worried. If there is anything I can do to help with the project, whether that is recording or anything, please let me know and I would be happy to contribute. Thank you for all that you have done!

    • kadauber

Hi Tyler! I am okay. Sorry to alarm you. I simply went back to school and was rapidly overwhelmed by classes and extracurriculars and searching for jobs. I’ll probably get the rest of arc 4 out by Christmas, but unfortunately that’ll probably be about it until winter break.

Nonetheless, hearing from people like you guys is what really wants me to keep making this, so thank you so much! I’ll let you know if you can help.

  31. JamesNoff

This is fantastic! I’m impressed by the quality of the recording. It was so much fun going back and listening to the early chapters. I really hope you continue!

  32. SquiffyT

Any word on chapter 3 and on?

  33. Amanda

I love the way you read this. I binge listened to both arcs and now I’m desperately waiting (patiently!) for the next instalment.

    Thank you!

  34. Lee Davies

    Yeah…
Looking forward. I don’t know what twig is about yet but first arch audio is already released. I loved the worm / worm audio, It was my favourite read of all time.

I couldn’t get into pact for some reason, guess it just wasn’t my genre, but still looking forward for twig.
